Technologies in detail

Power Factor Correction

Power Factor Correction is a well-established technology designed to improve the electrical efficiency of an incoming supply by improving a sites Power Factor. A business operating with a poor Power Factor will be penalised by their energy supplier in the form of ‘Reactive Charges’. These charges can vary from a few pounds to many hundreds of pounds, dependant on the Power Factor and level of consumption. Power Factor Correction equipment is installed on the incoming electrical supply and is therefore an ‘Entire-site’ solution. The installation is non-invasive and can usually be installed during normal working hours without interruption to the incoming supply. Savings are achieved by removing the Reactive Charges from bills, reducing Maximum Demand and reducing kWh Losses. In many cases, the reduction in Maximum Demand will also facilitate a reduction in ‘Available Capacity’. There is also system and environmental benefits by reducing current draw on the incoming supply and carbon emissions. Typical payback on PFC is between 6 – 24 months. To identify if a business will benefit from Power Factor Correction you should be looking for Reactive Charges on the electricity bills. These are sometimes difficult to identify to the untrained eye and we therefore offer a free of charge bill assessment, without obligation.

Voltage Optimisation

Voltage Optimisation is designed to reduce electrical consumption by reducing the incoming voltage to site to a more efficient level. Typical voltage in the UK is 242V however, since 1995 all electrical equipment has been designed to operate between 216V – 253V. By reducing this ‘over-voltage’ you reduce the kWh consumption and prolong the life time of many types of electrical loads, without affecting equipment performance. Voltage Optimisation equipment is installed on the incoming electrical supply and is therefore an ‘Entire-site’ solution. Installation is relatively non-invasive and would only require a short interruption of the incoming electrical supply (1 hour), during a time of the clients choosing. Savings are achieved through a significant reduction in kWh consumption of up to 25%. There is also system and environmental benefits by reducing current draw on the incoming supply and carbon emissions. Typical payback on VO is between 12 – 36 months. To identify if a business will benefit from Voltage Optimisation a minimum voltage of 236V would be required. To raise a free of charge proposal, without obligation we would require confirmation of site voltage and the last 3 months electricity bill.

Smartcool

Refrigeration Optimisation Refrigeration Optimisation is a new technology which interfaces with the controls of any Chillers, Freezers and Air Conditioning on site and reduces electrical consumption of the equipment by between 15-30% without affecting the target temperature. The Optimiser is installed on the compressor controls and is relatively non-invasive, typically requiring a 15-minute interruption to the equipment supply only, for final connection. Typical payback on this technology is between 12 – 24 months. There are also environmental benefits in the form of reduced carbon emissions. This solution is completely risk-free, with nothing to pay until the Client is completely satisfied we have achieved what we predicted. We will carry out a free of charge site survey and forward a proposal detailing annual savings and project costs. If the Client is happy to proceed we will install the equipment and monitor the results over 1 month. If the Client is satisfied with the results they can purchase the equipment, outright, over 3 monthly instalments, or even pay over the ROI period with no interest to pay! In the unlikely event the Client is not satisfied, we will remove the equipment free of charge with no money ever changing hands. This equipment is designed to work on significant chilling loads and we would therefore be looking at businesses operating walk in Chiller Rooms, Temperature Controlled Areas and multiple Air Conditioning units. We would also require the Clients latest electricity bill.

Biomass

Biomass is a renewable fuel source used to produce heating and/or hot water for domestic and commercial properties. It is derived from easily replenished crops such as corn, maize, and sugar cane as well as fast growing soft wood trees, it can also be sourced from food waste. 

Biomass is particularly good for businesses that are do not have mains gas and rely on more expensive fuels such as oil and LPG. Clients will not only benefit from cheaper running costs but also receive quarterly payments via the Renewable Incentive Scheme.

LED Lighting

LED lighting has rapidly developed over the last 10 years and has now come of age LED lighting can be installed in almost every area of the workplace; offices, factories, warehouses and car parks.

Our lighting projects can dramatically cut the operating costs and improve the working environment by installing super-efficient next-generation LED lighting resulting in:

Solar PV

A solar PV system can be mounted on a suitable roof with an orientation from East to West through the Southerly side of the compass or can be ground mounted. Our Solar PV expert team has a vast amount of experience and our design-led approach ensures that the system will optimise returns related to the electrical energy generated, your energy bill savings and the amount of income that is generated over the lifetime of the system (25-35 years).

We can offer a range of innovative finance solutions enabling you to be cash positive from month 1. We can also offer solar PV on a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This enables the client to benefit from the advantages of solar without any investment or on-going costs. The customer will benefit from purchasing energy at a reduced rate and lower energy costs.
